چکیده
The single-material overlapping models are incompatible with multi-material wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). A newly developed generalised model considers dissimilar adjoining beads in WAAM. geometric of coupled an algorithm identifies the process conditions for two materials to maintain same bead heights. model, implemented stainless-steel and creep-resistant-steel pair, yields significant scientific practical findings. Fabricating Superior NiAl Bronze Components through Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing
Cast nickel aluminum bronze (NAB) alloy is widely used for large engineering components in marine applications due to its excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Casting porosity, as well as coarse microstructure, however, are accompanied by a decrease in mechanical properties of cast NAB components. Although heat treatment, friction stir processing, and fusion welding were im...
متن کاملWire Arc Additive Manufacturing of AZ31 Magnesium Alloy: Grain Refinement by Adjusting Pulse Frequency
Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) offers a potential approach to fabricate large-scale magnesium alloy components with low cost and high efficiency, although this topic is yet to be reported in literature. In this study, WAAM is preliminarily applied to fabricate AZ31 magnesium. Fully dense AZ31 magnesium alloy components are successfully obtained. Meanwhile, to refine grains and obtain go...
متن کاملMulti-direction Slicing of Stl Models for Robotic Wire-feed Additive Manufacturing
Robotic wire-feed additive manufacturing technology is possible to directly fabricate metallic overhangs without support structures through multi-direction deposition. To automatically produce complex components with overhangs, an efficient multi-direction slicing algorithm to slice CAD models into a set of proper layers is required. This paper reports the concept and implementation of a new st...
متن کاملVibration Assisted Robotic Hot-wire Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (gtaw) for Additive Manufacturing of Large Metallic Parts
Most of the metal additive manufacturing technologies are focused on high cost and high end applications. There is in need, a low cost additive manufacturing technology suitable for low and high end metallic applications. Robotic automated welding can be considered as an alternative to manufactured large scale metal parts with layer by layer approach. However, many obstacles have to be overcome...
متن کاملSupport slimming for single material based additive manufacturing
In layer-based additive manufacturing (AM), supporting structures need to be inserted to support the overhanging regions. The adding of supporting structures slows down the speed of fabrication and introduces artifacts onto the finished surface. We present an orientation-driven shape optimizer to slim down the supporting structures used in single material-based AM. The optimizer can be employed...
